There were just six games on the NBA docket Saturday night. There were plenty of great players on the floor Saturday, but only three playersTyreke Evans can be named top performers of the night. In third was the stunning performance from Kemba Walker of the Bobcats who had his first career triple double in a lost to the Washington Wizards. Walker had 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in what was his best game of his young career. In second was the play of Kobe Bryant who scored 27 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and dished out 9 assists in a lost to the Milwaukee Bucks. And the top performer of the night is Tyreke Evans who scored 31 points, dished out 9 assists, and grabbed 6 rebounds in a lost to the Utah Jazz. Evans did his best to get his team the win, but the Jazz were able to take a win in a close game.

Rockets beat Knicks 97-83

January 28th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

The New York Knicks were looking to snap a two game losing streak tonight when they faced the Houston Rockets. The Knicks were without Carmelo Anthony for the second straight game as he rested from his various injuries. The Rockets were without their leading scorer in Kevin Martin who was out with plantar fasciitis.

The Knicks hung in this game despite shooting the ball poorly. But in the second half the Rockets took the game over and kept the Knicks from making key runs. Amare Stoudemire had a very good game as he scored 23 points to lead the Knicks, but it wasn’t enough. Stoudemire looked more under control and was able to score easier baskets tonight. Stoudemire also had 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. He really played well, but his team struggled to help get points on the board.

The guard play for the Knicks have been terrible. Iman Shumpert and Toney Douglas have hurt this team time and time again. They have struggled over the last couple of weeks with setting the tone on the offensive end. They are known for their defense, but have struggled to contain opposing point guards. The Knicks need a change quickly before they fall too far behind.

The start to this season for the Knicks has been very tough to watch. The Knicks need to make some type of change this week. A coaching change or even a trade. This simply can’t go on any longer for the fans sake. The offense is horrible and is making it hard on the defensive end to get stops.

This Knicks team is lost and something needs to change IMMEDIATELY.

Amare Stoudemire

The New York Knicks will face the Houston Rockets without their star in Carmelo Anthony. It was announced yesterday that Anthony would sit two games to rest his various injuries. Last night Anthony didn’t play against the Heat, but the team played better than expected even the lost.

The Knicks are hoping that Amare Stoudemire can be more productive tonight after his 12 point performance last night. Stoudemire seemed to just watch the other guys move the ball rather than get in the act himself. As a star Stoudemire needs to do more to help the team.

The backcourt of Toney Douglas and Iman Shumpert hasn’t worked out yet. This game could possibly have ramifications on whether either of the two will start come next week. Shumpert has struggled the last week and a half and could possibly find his way back to the bench. When Shumpert came off the bench the Knicks had excellent energy from him with scoring. Now Shumpert is struggling to find his shot and is turning the ball over.

The play of Bill Walker last night was amazing as he scored a season high 21 points. Walkers really kept the Knicks in the game on his hot shooting. All of Walkers points were earned from behind the three point arc. His production is increasing since he is seeing more minutes during Anthony’s absence.

This game is a test for the Knicks simply because the Rockets can score the ball. They have to limit the Rockets ability to get on the fast break. This game could possibly be a matchup nightmare for the Knicks who will have to contain Luis Scola, Kyle Lowry, and Kevin Martin.

If the Knicks can somehow pull out a win tonight they could give themselves a boost of confidence that they need. This game will be tough for the Knicks, but if they can stop Houston from shooting the ball they will win this game.

In second was the play of Russell Westbrook who scored 28 points, dished out 11 assists, and grabbed 6 rebounds in a win over the Golden State Warriors. And finally the top performer of the night was Kevin Durant who scored 37 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a win over the Warriors.

Wade returns as Heat defeat Knicks 99-89

January 27th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

The New York Knicks played the Miami Heat tonight hoping to get a win. The Knicks were without Carmelo Anthony who was resting from his injuries. This game would come down to the Knicks offensively and they were able to score points, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Heat.

Amare Stoudemire was basically no existent to start this game, but managed to score 12 points. He was basically standing around on the offensive end and looked as if he quit on the team. He was forcing the ball and committed 4 turnovers. Stoudemire looks lost on the offensive end. This may be because of the lack of a point guard, but he just needs to get his game back.

Bill Walker scorched the Heat tonight he shot the ballLeBron James exceptionally well as he hit seven three pointers. Walker led the team offensively and was able to score 21 points. He looks to be finding his range that the Knicks desperately need. He also played excellent defense on LeBron James who scored 31 points, but Walker limited the amount of points James put up.

Iman Shumpert and Toney Douglas continue to struggle this season. Both have looked to shoot rather than get their teammates involved. The Knicks are in desperate need of a point guard and these two have struggled with the role.

The Knicks weren’t expected to win this game and for them to lose by ten points gives hope that once Anthony and Baron Davis return they could possibly be a better team. The Knicks will now face the Houston Rockets tomorrow to finish up this four game road trip.

Pre-Game: Knicks vs. Heat 8:00 PM

The New York Knicks will take on the Miami Heat for the first time this season. The Knicks announced that Carmelo Anthony would miss the next two games to rest from his injuries. This is a huge lost for the Knicks who face two good teams these two days. The Heat will be without Dwyane Wade who is out with a ankle injury. Both teams have injured stars, but the Heat still have LeBron James and Chris Bosh. The Knicks will have to hope for a bad game from both of them if they want a win.

This is a big game for the Knicks who simply can’t afford anyAmare Stoudemire more losses in secession. Amare Stoudemire will have to have a huge night and get help from the rest of the team. Stoudemire has played well the last two games and hopes to continue that success tonight.

Iman Shumpert needs to have a better performance on both sides of the ball tonight. Shumpert has struggled the last week with finding consistent scoring. He needs to find a way to get some assists tonight. Hopefully with Anthony out Shumpert get the tempo up and get some quicker scores. He does have and advantage on the defensive end that he needs to capitalize on.

The last and finally key to the Knicks winning this game is bench production. The Knicks need their bench to come out and be aggressive. They need to play defense and score the ball. This team has lacked a consistent bench for a while now. This is the game the bench needs to prove that they can be great.

This game can be watched on MSG or ESPN. Let’s go Knicks!
